Hello everyone! As part of Short Story Saturday, I have posted another short story, this one entitled This Night Did Not Go As Planned. Please enjoy.

The young man flushed the toilet. Normally an innocuous and mundane action but tonight it was the denouement of a night filled with terror.

It started innocently enough. Greg fiddled around with an object in his pocket as he sat on his girlfriend’s couch. He had never visited before. All their interactions had either been at his small studio apartment or in the public and he was certainly surprised to learn that she lived in a mansion.

Hello everyone! As part of Short Story Saturday, I have posted another short story, this one entitled A Cabin in Winter. Please enjoy.

It is the dead of winter. Snow descends slowly and the bitter cold can be felt even through the man’s many layers of furs. His head feels especially cold in spite of his raccoon skin hat and the thermal mask scavenged off one of a multitude of putrefying bonds that litter the mountain trail.

In his hands is a giant ax. On his back are a rifle and a rucksack. His destination is his cabin, his family’s old vacation home, in the middle of the woods near the peak.

Hello everyone! As part of Short Story Saturday, I have posted another short story, this one entitled The Price of Victory. Loosely inspired by this prompt: https://www.writersdigest.com/prompts/soccer-threat. Please enjoy.

It was an insult. A travesty. An outrage. To do such a thing to the world’s greatest goalkeeper, Juan Carlos Gabriel Martinez was unforgivable.

They were bluffing. They must have been. The very gall, the very cheek of merely threatening to conduct such a heinous crime to an unparalleled star was a slap in the face. To actually go through with it was inconceivable.

He didn’t go there looking for love. All he wanted was a stiff drink after a hard day working for the Northwest Logging Company.

Hello everyone! Back on schedule this week. Hat tip to my father for giving me the prompt for this story. As part of Short Story Saturday, I have posted another short story, this one entitled The Journey. Please enjoy.

A faint bit of moonlight illuminated my path. Dark clouds covered the sky. A middling bit of moonlight managed to penetrate the thicket of tree branches dangling overhead.

I clutched my coat against my chest. Not in response to the cold, though the wind had picked up and the temperature certainly had dropped significantly as the night approached the witching hour. No, it was due to the fear induced by my hostile surroundings.

Wolves inhabited these coppices. Their howls were barely audible at first but had grown noticeably louder and angrier. They were savage. Merciless. Cruel. They would not hesitate to eat me alive. Those woods had claimed many a traveler. Only the most brave or foolhardy dared to make that trek.

Hello everyone! As part of Short Story Saturday, I have posted another short story, this one entitled The Inevitable. Please enjoy.

The man found himself on a couch. It was late at night, much later than you’d expect a therapist’s office to be open.

She had lost track of time. As a favor, she agreed to speak with a patient with a poor and potentially dangerous mental health history. This was a mistake.

Hello everyone! As part of Short Story Saturday, I have posted another short story, this one entitled Why You Never Celebrate in a Weird Bar. Please enjoy.

Waking up after a bender is never a fun thing but you can get used to anything if it’s done long enough. After a while, dealing with dry mouth and nausea became as part of the morning routine as wiping the crud out of your eyes. At least, that’s my excuse as to why I never bothered giving up staying up late drinking at random dive bars, but my latest experience and this sudden pain in my chest is beginning to change my mind. To think, it all happened this morning. Allow me to explain. Continue reading “Short Story Saturday: Why You Never Celebrate in a Weird Bar”

Hello everyone! As part of Short Story Saturday, I have posted another short story, this one entitled Non Morieris in Somnis Memorias. Please enjoy.

I’m walking through immaculate streets. Once vibrant and full of life, now sterile. The leaves blowing in the wind in front of me are its only occupants.

The ticks of a large clock tower in the center of town reverberate against my brain with each passing step, acting as a reminder of the inexorable nature of time. It can be seen and heard everywhere in this town. Its presence is inescapable.

I am exhausted. Not physically, mentally. Physical fatigue is impossible here.

Hello everyone! As part of Short Story Saturday, I have posted another short story, this one entitled A Lesson in Humility. Original writing prompt taken from https://www.writersdigest.com/prompts/antiquing-writing-prompt.

It was not a family reunion that should have ever happened. It defied the laws of God? Nature? Life itself? To think it none of this would have ever happened had I not been so covetous for fame. Such is the price to learn a lesson in humility.

I’m an author of very little renown, likely I’m nobody you’ve ever heard of but you may be familiar with my grandfather. If you’re a fan of his works you’ll know who I mean. I think about him daily.
